Show Teachers Get Pay Raise; Plans Made For Payson's New School; Ground Broken for Spanish Fork Building A salary increase for all of the teachers and custodians cus-todians of Nebo School District has been approved bv the Board of Education. The raise will be a blanket $100 per year for ail teachers and custodians. The salary increase came after considerable discussion discus-sion on the problem between teacher tea-cher representatives and board members. The new increase brings first year teachers pay to 52900 and increases up to $4200 over a 15-year period. In their meeting hold Wwl-neseday Wwl-neseday of last week, the school board members spent a great deal of time studying the architect's plans for the new grade school at Payson. The architect, V. C. Butler, went over the plans with the Board members with the view of finding where changes might be made to bring tho plan into conformity with the desires of the board. The board expects to study the plans further before calling a meeting meet-ing to arrange for bids for the new building. The proposed new building is to be a seven-room seven-room structure to be built on property just south of the Payson city park. Ground has been broken by the contractors for the building build-ing of the new grade school in Spanish Fork. Two new International school buses were received this week by j the school district and have been I put into operation. These are re-i re-i placement vehicles. The Board's i program calls for the purchase of j two replacement buses each year, t The School Board authorized participation of this district in an 1 accident insurance plan proposed I by the Security Life and Accident company of Denver, Colo. The : Board's action in authorizing the ; insurance plan does not constitute compulsion of any kind, but the insurance will be optional, both with principals of the various schools and with individual students stu-dents of the district (and their parents.) The plan briefly is an accident policy on students, the premium for which is $1.00 per year per participating student. The full price of the premium is to be paid by the student, ajid the School Board will have no participation par-ticipation in the plan, financially. This insurance plan is the same as has been carried on in other school districts in the state the past' two or three years. The record established estab-lished in other areas by the insuring insur-ing company prompted the Board to authorize introduction of the 1 plan in this district. |
