Show Thanks for a Happy Halloween So commendable was the conduct of most youngsters about town on Halloween night that we desire to add our praise to that of townspeople and give credit to these fine young people as well as to their teachers and parents. Always on previous Halloween nights young people have taken their lives in their hands to parade across busy highways into public places, ring doorbells for "trick 'er treats" and climax the evening " by soaping windows or otherwise defacing or destroying property. But this year it was different much' different and the credit, we believe, goes not only to the boys and girls, but to the teachers and the PTA who sponsored parties in practically all of the schools on Halloween night. Parents generally accompanied their boys and girls to these parties and the youngsters felt that they had had their fun and were happy to go home. Older boys and girls also had their fun, but not at the xepense of other people as in years past, and business men, as well as citizens all over town, are commending the young people of this city for their fine conduct on Halloween. It was an experiment, more or less, to have the Halloween parties, but in the opinion of townspeople and the public in general, gen-eral, they proved mighty successful. One police officer remarked that he had never seen a quieter Halloween or had less property damage by pranksters. So, our thanks in behalf of the entire town. |
