Show Farm-City Week Proclaimed; Tours, Other -Events Set Springville Kiwanis Club Aids With Program as Civic Service Project Mayor A. W. Cherrington this week proclaimed November 16 to 22 as Farm City Week and urged townspeople to ioin with the Kiwanis club and other organizations and industry to ob-' serve the week as a means of creating ,a better understanding between farmers, businessmen and labor. With full cooperation, all will be more conscious of their part in the economic and social life of his community, according to Sterling Ster-ling E. Price of the Kiwanis club, sponsoring the program. To accomplish their purpose a number of events are planned including in-cluding a guided tour of the U.S. Steel. and new Roller Mills at Geneva; Ge-neva; a two hour trip to three outstanding farms in the area; special speakers in the various LDS wards on November 18; salutes sal-utes on radio to many outstanding citizens and other events. Those people who desire to make the tour of the steel plant and Roller Mills with guides, are asked to Call Taylor Reynolds, Richard Huntington or Mr. Price giving the time desired to take the tour. If possible everyone will be scheduled sched-uled according to the time most convenient for them, Mr. Price said. The Steel plant will have buses available next Friday, Nov. 16, Nov. 19 and Nov. 20 and 21. Those who desire to take the agriculture tour are also asked to contact the same Kiwanis club members for details concerning this tour. Three outstandings farms will be visited and farmer-businessman farmer-businessman and labor relations discussed in an effort to bring about a closer relationship and better bet-ter understanding between the groups. The dates on which the majority of people desire to make the tours will be published next week. All are asked to make arrangements as soon as possible for the tours. A date is also being arranged for a guided tour of the Springville Spring-ville Sewage 'Disposal Plant for those who have not seen it. |
