Show Readers Urged to Study Amendment Published Today ,while the senators would be de- creased to one in the county. There has been considerable debate de-bate both for and against the amendment and often the public becomes confused. Readers of the Spring-ville Herald are urged to read the amendment as it appears in the paper today and study it carefully before voting for or against in the coming election. Readers will find in this week's issue of the Springville Herald and in several issues following, a copy of the Constitutional Amendment on which the public will be asked to vote in the November election. The amendment is being published pub-lished in all newspapers of the state as required to acquaint the public with the provisions recommended rec-ommended in the amendment. Proposes to amend section 2, 3 and 4 of articles 9 of the Constitution Con-stitution of the State by changing the constitution of the Legislature to make each county of the state a senatorial district, the amendment amend-ment in other words if favored by voters would give each county in the state one senator. The amendment would further reapportion representatives among the counties of the state accord- ! ing to the 1950 census and would authorize the legislature to increase in-crease the number of representatives representa-tives in some counties and decrease de-crease them in others. If the amendment is favored by the voters in the November election, Utah county would be known as the Eleventh Representative Represen-tative district and would be entitled en-titled to eight representatives, an increase of three, in the House, |
