Attending from Spanish Fork were Mr. and Mrs. Mack Holley and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hales and from Mapleton were Mr. and Mrs. Neil Whiting, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Hall and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Bird. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Johnson accompanied ac-companied by their grandson Mack Bills spent several days in Hannah, Wyoming visiting at the home of their son Verl and his family. Mrs. Ella Johnson whose birthday birth-day occured Friday was honored with a family dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Tuttle Sunday Sun-day by members of her family. Binks i Phone 0109-R4 Mrs. Harriet Nielson of Spanish Fork invited several of her Maple-ton Maple-ton friends to her home to help her with a silk quilt Friday of last week. Enjoying the afternoon at her home were Sadie Whiting, Bird Nielson, Arlena Holley, Inez Harmer, Marva Whiting, Marie Morgan, Mary Whiting, Ella Johnson, John-son, Senate Mendenhall, and Amanda Binks. Millie Bird and Alga Mackley of Provo, and Iva Lee of Spanish Fork were also present. Refreshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Peterson, who have recently toured Yellowstone Yellow-stone Park, spent a week as guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Snow before be-fore returning to their home in Burbank, California. j Mr. and Mrs. Lee Diamond have received word from their son Pfc. Jimmy Diamond of the 21st infantry infan-try regiment in Korea that he had been granted a ten day furlough which he spent in Kohi, Japan. While there he visited with an old school friend Larry Rayburn of Springville. This is the first time for over a year that he has seen any of his friends from home. The Mapleton MIA held their opening social Tuesday night, September 7 in the ward chapel. The theme for the evening was "The Ward we Live In", with Ida Diamond of the speech department and Marilyn Tuttel of the music department asssisted by Catherine Ann Jensen in charge of the program. pro-gram. Readers for the evening were Norman Young and Penny Banks. A short history of the ward was given and music was furnished by Ann and Judy Wiscombe who sang a duet. Boyd Hales played an organ or-gan solo. All officers of all of the organizations of the ward and stake were honored including all bishops and the patriarch. - The Birthday club was entertained enter-tained Saturday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reid M. Hales. Honored guests were Netta Soren-sen Soren-sen and Ralph Wyman who received re-ceived birthday gifts. Supper was Arnold Johnson, accompanied by two of his friends of Salt Lake City were weekend visitors at the E. M. Snow home. ' Mr. and Mrs. James G. Allen have had Mrs. Allen's sister, Miss Alice Williams and a niece, Jean Watson of Sedar City, as guests-over guests-over the weekend. i Gary Whiting has gone to Mon-ticello Mon-ticello to teach history and political politi-cal science in the high school there. Gary is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Whiting. Mr. and Mrs. Parley P. Perry were honored on their fifty-seventh wedding anniversary with a dinner at the home of a daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Burt Taylor Tay-lor of Springville last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Milo Johnson of Needies, California spent several days visiting at the home of his mother, Mrs. Wm. H. Whiting. Their children, Glen and Kathy who have been spending the sum- served early in the evening andi the remainder of the time was spent in social chat. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. Mas-ton Mas-ton Wentz, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Whiting, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Wyman, Wy-man, Priscilla LeRoy, Helen Reynolds, Rey-nolds, Netta Sorensen and Leland Christensen. Mrs. Zora Hales entertained a group of her friends at her home Friday afternoon where the time was spent in sewing and visiting. Refreshments were served to Ai-leen Ai-leen Weight, Ruth Shurtluff, R'Toise Riding, Elsie Alleman, Fern Bird, Marie Stone and Grace Harmer. Mrs. Louise Cook Beeton who has spent the past month at the home of her sister Mrs. Howard Whiting has returned to her home at Lewiston, Utah. Mrs. Cleo Heavener accompanied accompan-ied by Mrs. Lois Robertson Kershaw Ker-shaw of Salt Lake City were Sunday Sun-day visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Whiting. Mrs. Kershaw is the former Lois Robertson Rob-ertson of Springville, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Robertson who used to teach music in Springville. Lois reports that her father, who is now eighty years old is living in Los Angeles, California, and is still active. - Mrs. Mary Whiting and Mrs. Sadie Whiting spent several days last week visiting at the home of Mrs. Madge Parmlee of Salt Lake City who has been ill for some time. |
