Mr. and Mrs Joseph Jarvis (Mildred Boyer) of Mesa, Ariz., are the house guests of Mrs. Jar-vis' Jar-vis' sister, Miss Mary Boyer for the month of June and are being extensively entertained by relatives rela-tives and friends. Jarrett Jarvis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jarvis and his bride of Provo, also visited recently re-cently at the Mary Boyer home, before leaving for Arlington, Va-Jarrett Va-Jarrett and his wife were accompanied accomp-anied by their brother, John Jarvis Jar-vis of Mesa. Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Packard, Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Reynolds and Sterling Ster-ling Price went from Springville to attend a convention of the Utah Wholesale at Seattle, Wash., the past week. De Anna Kelsey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Kelsey is spending a week's vacation with Edith and Eileen Adams at Sigurd. Sig-urd. The Adams girls have been visiting in Springville the past week and they and DeAnna ac-compaied ac-compaied their parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Adams back Sunday. A number of Springville friends attended a breakfast and bridge party given by Mrs. R. L. Tack-ett Tack-ett at her home in Provo, Wednesday. Wednes-day. Guests from Springville were Mrs. Vinn Boyer, Mrs. Aileen Price, Mrs. Floss Johnson, Miss Effie Kelsey and Miss Ida Worth-en. Worth-en. Miss Marilyn Clegg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Clegg, has gone to Bryces Canyon, where she will be employed for the summer. Roger West, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert West left Monday for Zion National Park, where he will be employed during the summer Miss LuDean Clark, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Clark, is among Springville young people who will spend their summer vacation vaca-tion in the employ of the national Park service. She will be at Zion's. Pfc. Thayne Murray, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Murray, has returned return-ed to his post at Fort Sill, Okla., following a week's furlough spent with his parents and friends in Springville. 3Ir. and Mrs. George Simkins have had their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Greenwood (Fern Simkins) and family here from Hobbs, N. M., visiting for a few days. Mr. Greenwood Green-wood is librarian at the high school at Hobbs. During their stay Mrs. Greenwood's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and ' Mrs. Darrell Berrett entertained at their home in Provo celebrating Mrs. Ber-rett's Ber-rett's birthday. Geraldine Jensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Jensen, is spending a four-week's vacation with her cousin, Mrs. Wm. There she tried her luck panning real gold in the ancient sluice box at the old Gold Miner. Later, the wagon camp was visited, where in a huge circle real covered wagons were lighted by the flickering flames of a large camp fire. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Haglund and children of Idaho Falls, Ida., were visiting friends here early this week. Their Springville acquaintances ac-quaintances were happy to hear of their new baby son born on Mother's Day. The Haglunds were former residents of this city and have a host of friends here. John David Wilkerson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Kendall, is employed for the summer at Yellowstone Yel-lowstone Park. George Kelly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kelly and Reed Porter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Porter Por-ter are employed at Dugway for the summer. Harold P. Miner spent several days of the past week in Arizona to change climate in an effort to get relief from hayfever. Mrs. Minnie Oakley returned to her home in Springville recently after spending most of the winter with her daughter in California. Mrs. Sadie Bate has been visiting visit-ing her sister and other relatives and friends in Oakland, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Rober-t Muller of Los Angeles, Calif., were guests of Mr. and Mrs. West Hutchings last week. Mrs. Muller is the former for-mer Eileen Hutchings of this city, daughter of Mr. Hutchings. The couple were enroute to Colorado, the Rocky Mountain National Park, Denver and Iowa. On Saturday Sat-urday evening, they, with Mr. and Mrs. West Hutchings were dinner, guests of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hutchings in this city. They left Sunday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Springer and children, Laurel, David and Russell have returned from an enjoyable en-joyable 10-day vacation trip to California. They spent several days with Mr. and Mrs. J. Erwin Wiseman Wise-man (Marian Patrick) sister of Mrs. Springer at Red Bluff in the Sacramento Valley and then stopped stop-ped for a time with friends at Richmond. From there they went to San Francisco where they toured tour-ed many places of interest. Mr. and Mrs. W. Blaine Murdock (Captola Cherrington) and four children recently moved from Murray Mur-ray to the A. W. Cherrington farm on the East bench and Mr. Murdock with Bert Cherrington, will manage the farm. Aymot and Hilda have moved into the smaller home built by their son Jack, for the present. Mr. and Mrs. Willis Strong have as their guests, their son, Guy and wife and children from Boulder, Boul-der, Nev. The Strongs will also visit other relatives and friends in Springville. Guy operates a service ser-vice station in the Nevada city. Shirley Thorpe left early this week on ' a two or three weeks vacation to Long Beach, where he will visit a brother, Russell Thorpe and family; also with Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Stone and other friends and relatives, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur C. Boyer and family are vacationing this week at Mesa Verde, Grand Canyon, Can-yon, and points of interest in Southern California. They planned to visit their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Duane (Pauline) Donithorne. They will return by way of Las Vegas, stopping at Hoover Dam. |
