Show Racing Handicap Attracts Oalaxy Bf Prize Horses ARCADIA, Cal., Dec. 7 (U.I?)- War Admiral and Seabiscuit. the two great 1937 money winners topped a record list of 93 horses announced today as contenders for the $100,000-added prize money of the fourth Santa Anita handicap. handi-cap. Included among the entries were virtually every ranking handicap horse in America, and IS thoroughbreds imported from Ireland, Argentina, Chile, France, England and Canada. The nominations nomi-nations officially closed at midnight, mid-night, Dec. 1, but -were withheld by the Los Angeles Turf club , until today to prevent possible errors. At least a dozen horses which won prominent American stakes in the past three years were regarded re-garded as probable starters in the race richest in the world. Azu-car. Azu-car. the reformed steeplechase which won the first handicap in 1935, was not included in the list. But Top Row and Rosemont, 1936 and 1937 victors, will be back for another try. Other leaders considered certain cer-tain to answer the bugle March 5 were Calumet Dick; Fairy Hill and he did, winners of the $50,000 added Santa Anita Derby in 193S and 1937; Pompoon; Amor Brujo, the "Live Witch.' sensation of the northern California circuits; Aneroid, Heelfly, Chunccvicw, Time Supply, a Santa Anita Veteran, Vet-eran, and Sccneshifter. |
