Show Contractors of State Nominate at Meet Here : ic Library , Magnitude of Proposed Deer Creek Project Is Main Subject of Meet Tlic magnitude of the proposed Deer Creek project was explained from a builder's viewpoint, before be-fore members of the Associated General Contractors of America, intermountain branch, at the meeting and banquet here Monday Mon-day night. The principal speaker was E. O. Larsen, reclamation engineer in charge of the Deer Creek project. President E. A. Strong had the meeting in charge and H. T. Reynolds Jr., chairman on arrangements, was toastmaster. toastmas-ter. Mayor George Anderson welcomed wel-comed the visitors . and other short talks were given by UUfh County Commissioners W. J. Johnson and Theron S. Hall. W. D. Roberts of Salt Lake City, entertained with a humorous talk, and Mark Tuttle, association manager, man-ager, introduced Kie various guests. Approximately 130 members and special guests joined in the day's program which began with a tour of the Pacific State Cast Iron Pipe company plant and concluded with a banquet at Memorial hall. Preceding the banquet, a short business meeting convened in the club room and nominations for officers of the association for tho coming year were announced as follows: For president, Paul Paulson, Frank Bowers, Salt Lake City; vice-president, WAV. Clyde and A. O. Thorn, Springville; secretary-treasurer, J. H. Tempest, Temp-est, C. Alston, Salt Lake City; directors, F. J. Fullmer, S. N. Jacobsen, C. Bemsten, H. E. Schraver, Salt Lake City; J. M. Sumsion, Springville; C. Water-fall. Water-fall. Ogden. The officers will bo elected during the annual dinner-dance at Hotel Utah. January 15. Committee chairmen in charge of arrangements for the dinner-dance dinner-dance were named as follows: A. E. Christensen. general chairman; chair-man; C. N. Stillman, entertain- , ment ' and program; J. B. Mul-lins, Mul-lins, tickets; W. W. Clyde, prizes; J. W. Grant,' guest tickets. Protest against curtailment, of federal road funds and approval of the .proposed federal residential residen-tial construction program, were voiced in resolutions adopted . at the business session. |
