Show EH box scour An impressive Scout vestiture ceremony was conducted at the high school last Wednesday, under un-der the direction of Chairman John S. Boyer and Commissioner Commission-er Charles Boyer. Approximately 100 Boy Scouts and about 25 patrons pat-rons were in attendance. Fifteen patrols were represented at the meet, with two coming from Thistle. The latter two troops were commended for their attendance at-tendance which is the first at such a scout meeting. Merrill Chrlstopherson, scout executive of Provo. was in attendance at-tendance and conducted a variety var-iety of fun games and contests. There was a neckerchief chariot race, a blanket race, knot tieing, fire by steel and fire by friction contests. The First Ward Explorers Explor-ers won first place in the competitive com-petitive events and also second place. The Thistle Explorers and the Second ward troop tied for third. Excellent records were also made by other troops. For sig- ; naling accuracy, Troop 63. First ! ward and Troop 2063 also of that j ward, tied for first place. Individual honors went to Ger- j aid Newman of Troop 62, who won first place In the fire by steel and flint contest, making the blaze in 10 seconds. Second place went to Bernard Devenish and third to Paul Eg-gertson Eg-gertson both of Troop 62. A scout court of honor was conducted during the evening. The spirit of the occasion was emphasized when unique candlesticks candle-sticks made from native suemac represented the three points in the Scout Oath and the 12 scout laws. Lights were turned out and by the light of one candle a scout repeated the law representative represen-tative of the candle. A total of twenty Tenderfoot scouts were recruited re-cruited in the various troops, |
