Show I Local Rowe Clark, son of Mr. and 'Mrs. Henry Clark of this city, is home on a month's furlough from the U. S. Navy. It is his first visit since he enlisted about three years ago. During that time he has been in practically every port in Europe and other countries coun-tries around the world. He is at present visiting his sister, Mrs. Mace Young and family at Elko, Nev. He plans to return the latter lat-ter part of the month to his ship, the U.S.S. Shaw, docked near Philadelphia, Pa. i The First ward elders are giving giv-ing a dance in the ward amusement amuse-ment hail next Wednesday night. In addition to the dance, a special spec-ial entertainment in the form of a floor show and program is scheduled. Widows of ward elders eld-ers have been invited as guests and the public is cordially invited to attend. The First ward will hold its annual reunion Friday at 7:30 p. m., in the amusement hall. A program and dance are planned for the occasion.. On ' Thursday afternoon, beginning at 4 - p.m., the children of the ward, under 12 years wiil be entertained. Approximately 30 scouts participated par-ticipated in. the swimming instruction in-struction given at the Hot Pots Wednesday night. They are being given so that scouts may pass their requirements for advancement advance-ment in scout work. The boys were taken by the various troop committeemen and scoutmasters. I The Second ward Geneagolical Society is presenting a play, "Beyond Today," under the direction di-rection of Mrs. L. E. Otteson and Mrs. Carlyle Crandall, at 7:30 p. m., Friday in the amusement hall. The entertainment is free of charge and the public is invited. in-vited. Another . phase of the street and walk improvement program was completed this week with the construction of the second bridge over -Hobble' Creek.- The latter bridge is on Second West between Second and Third North streets. Only a few more days will be required" to complete the work, which is under the direction direc-tion of Superintendent Harvey Hutchinsen. The Kolob Stake M. I. A. is sponsoring a 3-act comedy by the McCune School, Salt Lake City, to be given in the high school on December 28, at 8 o'clock. Tickets are available at the drug stores or from the following fol-lowing executives: Mrs. Vilate K. Reynolds, Mrs. Blanche Beal, Mrs. Maude Peterson, Miss Aleen McKenzie, G. Lowry Anderson. Willis Harmer, M. W. Bird and Howard Thorn. The first of a series of M.I. A. dances by the stake is scheduled for December 17, at Memorial hall. Demonstrations of the M.I. A. lances will be featured by dancers from each of tie wards. Special decorations are also planned and are under the direction di-rection of Mrs. Pearl Smith, Mrs. Maude Peterson, Willis Harmer and representatives from each of the wards. Everyone is invited in-vited to attend. |
