Show Poppy poster winners receive cash prizes in annual contest Three students from the Junior high school were judged judg-ed winers in the Poppy Poster contest, sponsored by the American Am-erican Legion Auxiliary, as a preliminary to annual Poppy Day, May 28. The first place poster will be entered in district competi- tion and all others will be arranged ar-ranged in business store windows win-dows about town. Richard Moon, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. N. Moon, took first place and was presented with a $4 check; Lila Ree Mea-son, Mea-son, second, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Measom was given a $3 check and Carol Jensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ruel Jensen of Mapleton was third and was presented with $2. Students were all from the Seventh grade. The presentations were made at a meeting of the Legion Auxiliary Wednesday evening, at Memorial Hall, by Chairman Chair-man Julia Sumsion, who thanked thank-ed the students and instructor Rell Francis for their efforts. Parents of students were invited in-vited as guests by President Marva Davis. The group toured tour-ed the Art ' Gallery before the meeting. I |
