Show Club group enjoys folic song program An evening of folk songs and music was enjoyed by members mem-bers of the Ladies Literary club when they met with Mrs. A. E. Jacobsen Thursday evening. even-ing. v Mrs. Elaine Clark of Provo who sang in Oklahoma some months ago, exhibited charm and talent as she sang more than a dozen well-known folk songs, accompanying herself on the auto-harp. She was introduced in-troduced by Mrs. Julia Sum-sion Sum-sion in charge of the program. Interesting background for the songs was furnished by Professor Cheney of the BYU, who has collected original folk songs from Utah and other parts of the country. Mrs. Paul Thorn reported on the Legislative Legisla-tive Council meet and Helen Anderson read the collect. The meeting was conducted by Rea Straw, club vice-president. Preceding the program, the hostess served a nicely arranged arrang-ed luncheon to club members and special guests including Mrs. V. C. Mendenhall, a former for-mer member, of Las Vegas, Nev.; and Mrs. Colvin of California. Cali-fornia. She was assisted by her daughters, Mrs. Wendel Winger Wing-er and Mrs. Jay Colvin of Orem. If the cost of a college education edu-cation continues to snowball for many more years, a person per-son can make a profit by remaining re-maining ignorant. Grit. |
