Show At the invitation of Nebo School Board and Superintendent, Superinten-dent, representatives of the various groups of employees of the district met , with the board Monday evening to "discuss items and limitations of the proposed budget for 1960-61." Present were representatives from the school lunch employees; employ-ees; from the Teachers Assn., the Principals' Assn., and the Custodians' Assn. After a question and answer period, the. principals' group and the Teachers' group asked to meet privately with the board. At this meeting the principals princi-pals ask the boai-d to adopt a "formula" which they presented pre-sented or at least a percentage. percent-age. At a previous meeting of the board the principals presented pre-sented a possible adjustment in their salary schedule. The minutes submitted by Clarence Clar-ence Wendel, clerk, did not state, but it is believed the so called "formula" had to do with a salary schedule. President Carl A. Patten of the board stated he thought the principal's request," re-quest," was basically sound and justified and assured them that the request would s" be seriously considered, but at present the Board could see no funds available to grant the request, the minutes min-utes stated. AT the meeting of the teachers teach-ers with the board, Lynn Powell Pow-ell pointed out the importance of an insurance program which would cover all fulltime employees em-ployees and asked that the board consider the possibility of participating , on a 50-50 basis with full time employees. President Patten reported that the plan was a good one and that the board was favorable to an insurance plan for full-time full-time employees of the district. However at the present time the Board can see no funds. THE minutes did not state the reaction of the board to the meeting with the school lunch representatives or to the custodians. In previous meeting minutes, the custodians custo-dians discused a proposed salary sal-ary schedule with provisions for insurance coverage and a three weeks vacation per year after ten years service. The minutes of the Monday meeting submitted by Clarence Wendel, school clerk, noted the board authorized . the superintendent superin-tendent and the board president presi-dent to meet with Merlon Bry-son, Bry-son, bus supervisor and determine deter-mine the trucks and buses to be sold. The board suggested the price be set on the buses and then advertised. On Thursday April 14, members mem-bers of the board held a special spe-cial meeting after visiting the various schools in the district. Claims amounting to $216,-566.06, $216,-566.06, lists of which had been mailed to members of the board, Were approved for payment. pay-ment. The bank balance as of March 31 was listed at-$792,-203.87, less outstanding checks which left a balance as of April 1 of $352,916.69. Abandonment of the house on Santaquin school property was authorized and sale of the Goshen dwelling after appraisal, apprais-al, was approved. LETTERS of resignation from Ellis Bird and Ernest Bramall, Springville school custodians, were read and accepted ac-cepted effective April 30. However How-ever their request for two weeks vacation was not approved ap-proved as the board ruled their contracts for the 1959-60 school year had not been completed. |
