Show Employees in the Southern South-ern Part of State Go on Strike. Special to Tho Tribune. I'OCATEUUO, Idaho, Oct. 3. Electrical Elec-trical workers of the Idaho Power company are out on strike for an increase in wajies and better working conditions. Russell Brossfield, chairman of tho strike committee, said tonipht that the committee had been refused a hearing bv Superintendent AS. K. Trenner of the ; power company in Boise, at which the i electrical workers intended to state their contentions and attempt to brin about a settlement of the question without resorting re-sorting to a strike. As soon as the request for a hearing 'was denied the men were called out. The territory emliraeed in the strike includes Poeaielio, Boise, American Falls, Black-I'oot Black-I'oot and Idaho Kails. Workers in other cities of southern Idaho served by the company, it is said, may Join tho strikers. Declaring that at no time had the company com-pany refused to meet a committee com-1 com-1 posed of its employees, officials of tho Idaho Power company at Pocatello issued a statement last night in which they say their electrical workers left the company's employ because the company refused to bargain with officials of the union. The statement of the company's manager at Pocatello follows: "Twenty-five electrical workers employed em-ployed in Pocatello and vicinity have stopped work because the company will not meet and bargain with a commit too from the union to which the men belong. The Idaho Power company has alwayB operated on the 'open shop' basis, neither favoring union men nor discriminating against them. "The company has always been glad to meet any committee composed of its employees em-ployees and discuss questions of wages and working conditions, but in this instance in-stance we were asked to meet and treat with a committee of which several men were not our employees, but union officials. offi-cials.
