Show Icon. Virginia makes valuable shipment The feature of the mining reports of the week is the large ore production from the Consolidated Virginia mine, where 457 tons of ore were extracted, having a gross assay value of about $12,000, nearly all of which came from the new vein on the 2150-foot level, the car samples running run-ning from $13 to $39 per ton on the 2150 level, says the Virginia City Chronicle. Favorable conditions are in evidence at several points in the development work, notably on the 1950 level. Prospecting work in the Ophir is also of a very encouraging en-couraging nature and ore was taken out on the 1800 and 1900 levels sampling $26 to $39 per ton. Of special interest also is the Mexican report, where improvement in formation is to be noted in the west crosscut on the 1900 level, occasional good assays now being be-ing obtained from the quartz in the face. The same conditions also prevail in the south drift on the 2000 level. Conditions remain the same in the Union Consolidated and Sierra Nevada, where exploration drives continue on the vein formation. The Mexican mill resumed crushing ore, ore being shipped from the surface bins of the Ophir and Consolidated Virginia. |
