ALTHOUGH they began their sea-sou's sea-sou's work with ouly one letter man on the squad, the Granite high football team, under the work of Coaches Harry Halton and Sam Baird, has developed into one of the strongest high school elevens in the entire division. The team's unexpected strength showed itself in the first .league game with the Ogden high, in which they were able to hold the much mare experienced ex-perienced Tiger aggregation to a. tie score, 0 to 0. Entering the game with short time for practice and an entirely new team, the Bed and Blue put up a fight that won the respect of the big crowd of spectators. The first game seemed to give the men the confidence that is very essential essen-tial for a winning team, and since then they have been putting in long htinrs to prepare for the harder games which are to come. J lighting bunch, but its one weakness is the lack of speed in the backfield. A number of new men have entered school lately, and they will no doubt strengthen the team. Among them are Scott Lincll, wlio should make a valuable val-uable backfield man; John Howell, who has had some previous experience, and Leo and Melvin Hamilton, brothers of the noted Hamilton athletes. These men, with the present backfield material, mate-rial, consistiug of Cornwall, Hart, Stevens. Ste-vens. Cliff Cutler, Snyder. Joe and Hy S'.itnmerhays, should furnish plenty of material for Coach Halton to strengthen his backfield. Captain Fonald Green at center, with Arnold Smith and Otto Buehner to fill in. will take care of the center of the line. Other linemen who will probably prob-ably hold down positions are Giui, Au- |
