Shortly Short-ly before he returned home the boys attempted at-tempted to take the machine, but had difficulty In getting it started. Accord ing to Mr. Wilson, they apparently noticed no-ticed thaf they were being watched and abandoned their attempt. On arrival home of Mr. Richards shortly afterward, Mr. Wilson and Mr. Richards followed the boys and caught them near the Eagle Gate on Slate street. At first they maintained main-tained their innocence, but yesterday admitted ad-mitted to having attempted to take tha machine for a iov-ride. . YOUTHS CONFESS TO AUTO THEFT ATTEMPT Herbert Hanson, 336 North Second West street, and Freeman Knight, S34 West Third North street, who were arrested Wednesday night on a charge of attempting attempt-ing to steal an automobile belonging to Preston D. Richards from in front of the Hillcrest apartments, were given In custody cus-tody of the juvenile court authorities yesterday, after having made confessions to the police. Both boys gave their ages as IV years. The Knight boy has been before the juvenile court several times before be-fore on tlie same charge. The attempt to steal Mr. Richards's car was witnessed by F.
