In a report issued is-sued today, officials of the Illinois department de-partment of agriculture declare that enormous quantities of meata, butter -and ."Kfrs are now in storage in Chicago warehouses, ware-houses, chiefly under control of the five big packers. The report states that since the la.st legular compilation of figures. fig-ures. June 1, the stocks of these commodities com-modities have grown in abnormal proportions propor-tions and that their release would go far toward reHeMiiK the present shortage and tend to reduce prices. According to the report, the following quantities are at present stored in Chicago: Chi-cago: Beef, 8:"i. 97 1,000 pounds. Pork, 70. 51 7.000 pounds. Butter, 7.8'.f3.000 pounds. IteKs, 12.000,000 cases, or 360,000,000 dofii esgs.
