Show ARMY TO ABANDON AIR SERVICE PLANS WASHINGTON, July 17. Plans for the establishment of four observation squadrons squad-rons in the Philippines a3 part of the basic defense of the islands will have to be abandoned, army officials said today, unless un-less some remedy is found for the present situation of the air service. Each of these squadrons requires forty-one flying officers and the entire commissioned personnel per-sonnel of the service will number only 222 by September 30. Other important projects to be abandoned aban-doned Include: Three squadrons for Hawaii, three squadrons for Panama and two for the border patrol and forty balloon bal-loon companies for the United States. |
