Show IV LIMIT LIGHTS IF! CITIESOE 101 Specfal to The Tribune. POCATELLO, Idaho, July 17. "Light-less "Light-less nights" will be introduced In the cities of Idaho during the remainder of the season if the suggestion of Irrigation and state officials is adopted. The purpose pur-pose of lightless nlghtH is to save power that the electric energy in the state may be turned over to farmers and big pumping pump-ing plants to keep the plants working night and day in an effort to save the crops wherever possible. Boise will start the movement by curtailing cur-tailing the use of street lights, and It is thought other cltie3 will soon follow. Pumping systems throughout the state consume a great deal of power during the irrigation season, and to enable these plants to run night and day, it is proposed to place at their disposal just as much power as they may need, and, to do this, the cities and towns of the state will sacrifice their night street lighting. |
