The Bensa- j leers took the second game of the series with Salt Lake this afternoon, after-noon, 10 to 5. The visitors tried twp pitchers, but neither one of tem amounted to much when ii came to heading off the Tigers. Jean Dale started ior the Keelets. but he was wild, passing opposing batsmen one after anothpr. Guy hooper, formerly with Portland, was sent to Hale's relief. He alio we J a hunch of hits, but for the "most part pitched good ' ball. , Joe Finneran flun? for the home club. 1 He was none too steady, but the big lead ' ids mates piled up for him saw him , tnrough with ease and he wound up wiLh tallies to spare. Errors tm the Salt Lake side helped Vernon's total of scores along. As a mat- ; er of fact, just abou t all of Vernon's runs were chargeable, in one way or an- : other, to wiid throws and muffed" balls. i The Tigers opened with three in the first inning, due largely to a couple of wild throws by the catcher to second base, and four walks. The Vernons did nca get a safe hit in the inning. I The Bees took a couple in the fourth, when Finneran lost control. With the tases full, he hit Sheely with a pitched ball for one run and the other scored on , an out. j The big time for the Tigers was their I ha-f of t;ie fourth, when they landed on ! Cooper for five hits, which, combined with some base stealing and a wild throw, ; netted tiie hometowners five tallies. j They made two more in the sixth on j two hits, some more wild base-running i and an error. ! The Bees collected three in the seventh ' on a double by Sheely, a single by John- son, a double by Cooper, a single by Mag- j gert and a wild peg by Eddington. i SALT LAKE. AB. R. H. PO. A.
