Show KINDNESS PAYS. America has the good will of the Filipino Fil-ipino people even though their political aspirations have not been realized. During Dur-ing the war the islanders contributed men and money to support the stand taken by the United States and the action ac-tion was purely voluntary. "Whether independence is granted in the near future fu-ture or delayed for several years we believe the Filipinos will remain our true friends. They have shown vast improvement since being emancipated from the rule of Spain and they have many fine points of character. In discussing dis-cussing American sales and advertising in the Philippines, the Americas, a publication issued by the National City bauk of New York, tells the following story: The inborn courtesy of the people of the Philippines, like all other far ens-tern ens-tern people, has been of direct benefit to the merchants in the islands who have used the same courtesy toward their customers. For instance, a letter addressed to a Filipino is almost certain cer-tain to result iu reply, courteously phrased and carefully worded. The wastebasket habit has not yet invaded the islands. When the Pacific Commercial Commer-cial company undertook a sales campaign cam-paign for a certain brand of condensed milk, let tors were sen t to the entire mailing list t el ling of the particular values contained in the milk and of 3ts great success in providing infants T.iiL a nutritive food. The reference to the children seemed to meet with a responsive respon-sive cord in every native household and the company was flooded with replies from all sections of the rm-hipelago. Those who did not have children wrote to say so, but thanked the company for its interest and promised to pass along the good news to their more fortunate neigh bors. |
