Show PERPETUATE THRIFT. Willi OSRECTDR URGES Schools Spirit and Soul of. Saving's Movement, Official Of-ficial Says. t J. H. Fuelicher, government director of savings in the Seventh federal reserve district, in an address delivered Monday before the National Education association, associa-tion, held in Milwaukee, pointed out that the thrift movement had resolved itself into a great educational movement, including in-cluding thrift, Americanization and war savings, according to a report received by tiie local war savings bureau yester-dav. yester-dav. Fuelicher proposed that this big prfceram be perpetuated on a permanent perma-nent educational basis under the direction direc-tion cf a department of education with a secretary in tile president's cabinet. Mr. Fuelicher said the volunteer war loan organizations are rapidly disbanding, and, unless the part of their work worln preserving is directed inu permanent channels, the nation will lose many of the results of its vigorously waged thrift campaigns. He said the schools had been the spirit and soul of the thrift movement, move-ment, with the postoflice department furnishing fur-nishing the mechanism. Mr. Pueliciier said, "and influencing the quality of our citizenry, should receive their inspiration inspira-tion from the very heart of the nation, should be officially represented at the seat of our government, and should have supporting sup-porting them the great resources and the great influences of our nation.
