Activity Pronounced. Iowa Park is the field. A trip through the townsite will convince the most skeptical. skep-tical. The railroad yards command much Interest, due to the great activity. On first sight the first impulse would be that a circus was about to be unloaded, car after car loaded with rigs, casing, boilers, etc., are being unloaded every day. Going Go-ing south and a little west of the town-site town-site the wells of. the zinc come into view, of which there seem to be a dozen, either pumping or drilling. Going a little farther far-ther south, after passing long lines of teams loaded with casing, timbers and equipment of every description, you reach the Engle and Henderson well, on the Ferguson tract. This well came in last Saturday, throwing oil high Into the air, and is now flowing at the rate said to be about fifty barrels per day. Great crowds flocked to this field all day Sunday to see this wonderful field. Leases are selling at unprecedented advances, ad-vances, owing to the large number of new wells being brought in daily at Iowa Park leases that could have been secured se-cured thirty days ago at ?10 per acre are now selling at J200 and $300. Lots in Iowa Park are now selling at $250 to $500 each, because of the fact that wells of such capacity as one and two-hundred barrels are coming in almost daily. It is reported that the Sun Oil com- i 1 pany has acquired leases on about five acres immediately vest of the city limits of Wichita Falls and will begin a 3500-foot 3500-foot test within the next thirty days. The location for the first well is made on the Hund farm, just west of the Anderson home. This brings the drilling operation right up to the doors of the city, and if the test proves productive will widen the field in an entirely new direction. |
