Show CHANGE ORDERED II Hi METHOD Matter of Vital Importance Made Public by U. A. C. Officials, Special to The Tribune. LOGAN, Oct. 25. According to special arrangements made by the authorities in charge of the students' army training corps at the Utah Agricultural college and the committee on education and special spe-cial training of the war department, the entire Induction proceedings of men entering en-tering the college unit of the S. A. T. C. may be conducted by college and military mili-tary authorities, according to a statement just issued by Captain Stephen Abbot, commanding officer. Under these arrangements, men do not need to secure induction through their local draft board?. They may be inducted Individually under competent orders issued is-sued by the provost marshal general through the college. This shortens induction in-duction proceedings materially and makes the operation much more convenient for men desiring induction. Both vocational and collegiate sections at the college may be filled by this method meth-od of voluntary induction. At present very few openings exist In the collegiate section, and not more than 200 men can be accommodated in the vocational section. sec-tion. Of these, nearly 100 may secure training as radio-telephone electricians. These men must be 19 years of age or over, registrants of September 12, or, if registrants of some previous date, not in class 1. They must have had two years of high school work to qualify. Over 100 men may secure induction for training as carpenters, concrete workers, chauffeurs, chauf-feurs, auto mechanics, machinists, radio experts, horseshoers and blacksmiths. These men must be registrants of September Sep-tember 12, or not in class 1 if registrants regis-trants of a prior date, and 19 years of age or over. They must possess a grammar gram-mar school education or its equivalent. Induction may continue until and including in-cluding October 30. Induction offices have been opened by the college at Logan, Lo-gan, Salt Lake City, Ogdeh and Provo. |
