Show 1 PUNT TO HANDLE 111 ORE BUILT United States Metals Reduction Re-duction Company Is Busy at Castleton. Completion or the United States Metals Reduction company's plant, located fifteen miles out of Castleton and fifty miles from Cisco, for the treatment of the radium-bearing ores, thero is announced 1 H. K. Thurber, geologist and advisory advis-ory engineer of the company. Mr. Thurber Thur-ber returned from the mine a few days ago and left again last night. "The plant, which is now built, said Thurber, "handles the carnotite ores by the dry' concentration process .and will have a capacity of about fifteen 'tons per day. We expect the mill will go into commission com-mission within the next fifteen days. The company, the headquarters of which are in Pittsburg, holds thirty-seven claims, but it is impossible even to estimate the tonnage with any degree of accuracy for the reason that the ore deposits are irregular ir-regular and occur in lenses. There is considerable of the ore that carries 2 per cent or better of uranoxide and this can be shipped without treatment, as it has a - value of from $125 to $150 per ton. The milling ore carries from ,S per cent to 1 per cent of the uranoxide and we concentrate con-centrate this up to values of about 3.5 per cent and ship the concentrates to Pitts- burg for refining." 1 As to developments along the line of rare metal production in that section of the state, Mr. Thurber states that the Temple Mountain property, located out of Green River in Emery county, had recently re-cently been examined by C. P. Willis, superintendent of the Radium Luminous Material corporation of New York, with a. view to purchase, but that no details of the deal pending had reached him. . Prom its properties near Thompson, the J Pittsburg Radium company, of which Samuel Jefferey of New York is manager, has recently shipped a car of vanadium ore that carried values of S per cent vanadium oxide, giving the product a commercial value of ?S0 per ton.
