Show SOCIETY Huge Fires Cheer Winter Garden Party A NOVEL, entertainment, known as a "Winter Garden"' party, was given on the lawn at the home of Miss Catherine Silver and Miss Virginia Silver Sil-ver on East Second South street last night. The other hostesses, besides the Misses Silver, were Miss Theodosia Smith and Miss Ruby May. Two huge bonfires were lighted and the guests spent the evening toasting wienies and marsh mallows. A late supper was served from one long table decorated with Hallowe'en ideas. A feature of the evening was a fortune-telling fortune-telling booth and much, entertainment was furnished by glimpses into the future of the- guests by experts in the mystic art of fortune-telling. The hostesses were assisted by Miss Jasmine Smith and Miss Naomi Hoffman. Hoff-man. Lieutenant and Mrs. Warren H. Armstrong, Arm-strong, who are well known in Salt Lake, were guests of honor at a prettily arranged ar-ranged dinner given at th Hotel Midland Mid-land at Law ton, Okla.. by Captain and Mrs. George B. Duncan previous to their departure for Columbia, S. C. Mrs. Duncan Dun-can and Mrs. Armstrong entertained extensively ex-tensively during their stay at Fort Sill at their hornet "The Gray Gables." Mrs. Armstrong is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George F. Busch of this city. Miss Jane Walkingshaw will entertain at a small Kensington this afternoon in honor of Miss Helen Packard, a fall bride. Mr. and Mrs. John McChrystal and daughter, Miss Bobble McChrystal, of Eureka came to see Captain Arthur McChrystal, Mc-Chrystal, son of Mr. and Mrs. McChrystal, who passed through the city on Jiis way to an eastern port to sail for France. Mrs. Albert Fisher and baby daughter have arrived from Camp Fremont, California, Cali-fornia, where they had been with Captain Cap-tain Fisher until he was transferred to a n eastern camp preparatory to sailing for France. Mrs. Fisher and baby will be with Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Darling, Mrs. Fisher's parents, while her husband is- in army service overseas. Mr. and Mrs. Walter C. Lewis have returned re-turned from Chicago andTLancaster. Wis., where they iiave been for a brief stay. They were called to Lancaster by the death of Mrs. Lewis's mother. Mrs. Milton Beifuss has arrived from Camp Fremont, where she had been with her husband until he was sent east on iiis way overseas. Mrs. Frank Meyers, another daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lane, is also at home while her husband Is in training for army service in a camp on the Great Lakes. Lieutenant and Mrs. C. B. Rush have arrived from San Francisco and are with Mrs. Rush's parents. Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Jennings, on Twelfth East street. Lieutenant Lieu-tenant Rush is stationed temporarily at Fort Douglas with the 403rd engineers. Mrs. Rush, formerly Miss Bessie Jennings, will remain with her parents until after the war. Mr.and Mrs. Cliff Thompson (Miss Nana Bryant) and Miss Bess Grover have been enjoying an outing at Bear lake since the closing of the Wilkes theater. They returned early in tho week. Mra. A. E. Lewis is spending a few weeks in Salt Lake and is in an apartment apart-ment at tho Covey.
