Show WHITE TOP WEEDS MUST BE CUT AWAY i County Commissioners Pass Ordinance Requiring Clearing of Land of Va- rious Undergrowths. A weed ordinance requiring the cutting cut-ting and burning of. "white top" before be-fore Julv 1 on all land in the county not in uncultivated desert or mountainous mountain-ous localities, was enacted yesterday by the board of county commissioners. R. E. L. Collier, county surveyor and road supervisor, was constituted weed inspector and given authority to clear the county roads of all weeds. The ordinance ordi-nance provides that burdock, cocklebur and thistle weeds shall be cut and de-stroved de-stroved before August 15. The aim is to prevent seeding of the land by destroying de-stroying the seed before ripe enough to be scattered. The board authorized Mr. Collier to build a bin for holding road surfacing material at the Maxfield mine in Big Cottonwood canyon, that the county might take advantage of the offer of the Cardiff Mining & Milling company to spread the material on the canyon road free of cost to the county. The mining company is using the road for ore hauling and is desirous that it be kept in good shape. Orson Allen, superintendent of the county infirmary, was authorized to make'arrangements with local coal companies com-panies whereby coal for that institution might be purchased now and stored in the vards of the companies until needed. |
