Nearly complete com-plete reports to the provost marshal general's gen-eral's office show that 74-1, -J5 young j Americans who have become of age dur- ing the past year registered for military j service on June 5. This is 2G6,74 below 1 the estimate of the census bureau, hut j since more than 0u,0o0 unregistered -I- j year-olds already are enlisted in the i army, navy and marine corps, the mili- j tary authorities find the result entirely satisfactory. Army and navy estimates place the number of 21-year-old men enlisted at 20S.5.SS. This figure combined with the falling off in alien registration gives a total of 353. 6S6, which means that census bureau apparently missed the number of eligibles by only 13.000.
