Show Denies interest in postoffice tubes WASHINGTON, June 14. When the conference report on the postoffice appropriation ap-propriation bill which the house yesterday yester-day rejected because of the senate amendment for federal purchase of pneumatic pneu-matic mail tube systems, was, brought before the senate today, Senator Lodge of Massachusetts read a letter from Senator Weeks of Massachusetts, replying to a charge that he had a personal interest in the tube purchase. The suggestion was declared by Senator Sena-tor Lodge to be "a slander of the basest kind." Democratic Leader Martin added that he completely indorsed Senator . Lodge's statement. The senate insisted formally on the tube amendment and returned the bill to conference. |
