Show ij Soldiers i j! Entertained ; !; by Women of City i HOSTESS houses for the entertainment entertain-ment of soldiers at Fort Donglas are being established by girls' clubs of the, city. The latest hostess house to be thrown open is the W W. C. A. headquarters in the Continental Bank building. The entertainment inaugurating the. hospitality of tho Y. W. C. A. rooms for t'ho soldiers wa-s a "candy pull" and vaudevilo performance last night-The night-The informal refreshments and the clever vaudeville features made a great hit with the soldier guests. Miss Katherine Levering gave threa pleasing folk dances, including the "Irish Lilt." "Russian Folk Dance" and "Sailor's Hornpipe." A French skit, "En Wagon," was given under the direction of Miss Portman, and proved diverting. An interesting shadowgraph was given by Miss Lois Covington and Miss Gertrudo Prack. A dance, "Gavotte of tho Allies," was artistically given by Mrs. P. Chandler Hart, Mrs. Harold Havener, Bessie Taft Voelker, Tutt.le Hart and Chandler Hart, Jr. Attractive vocal selections were contributed by Mrs. H. E. Corless. Picturesquo dances, tho tarantella, scarf (lauco and dance of tho elements were well douo by six high school girls. Tho committee in charge of the entertainment en-tertainment included Mrs. H. B. Oriteh-Iow, Oriteh-Iow, Mrs. L. M. Bailey, Mrs. James Hoglo, Mrs. John Vimont Lyle, Mrs. Guy E. Bowerman, Mrs. G. V. Lawry, Mrs. Elizabeth Burrows and MisB Gertrude Ger-trude Prack. similar entertainments will bo given at intervals, and tho rooms will be open to the soldiors at nil times. A popular hostess house which has been established is in tho parlors of the First Unitarian chnrch under the direction of the Girls' Patriotic loague. Parties are given each week on Friday evening. A Valentine party was given last Friday night, including a light supper, two short plays and dancing. |
