Show CAMPAIBH TO SAVE i W- F. Jensen Issues Proclamation Procla-mation as Economy Commissioner. Conservation of men and material is the Keynote of an appeal that has just been issued hy V. K. Jensen, v?;o was recently appointed fedtral commissioner of commercial economy for Utah. Mr. Jensen proposes to conduct a cam-ipaign cam-ipaign for the proper conservation of men 1 and uititerial throughout the slate and j lias opened, the campaign with the fol- lowing statement and appeal: I Our country is preparing for wax. j This preparation is not confined to , armv camps; il includes evei vone in civil life. Let us say five million men on the frunt with two million men back of the line em;aued in making ammunition ammuni-tion and weapons and cuaned in the transport service. Tins means that one out of every five active men in our countrv will he In military service and support, and these men taken from industry and agriculture must he j offset at homo by economy in manpower man-power in order that essential work and t he product inn of food will not suffer hero like it lias in Kurope. Let us say t wenty billion dollars rer annum to finance the war. This larire sum need not slather us. hut it cannot come from surplus entirely. It must mainly come from economies, t hri: f and savings in our industries, hist it ut ions, homes and our personal hahits and lives, ; It is my duty to help you in bring imr this about, to stop waste and to eliminate such service and custom from your business, that nas corns about tl trough intensive competition or other reasons, which can now be done away with.
