Show CGI PIES REE SSOMEMT HIGHER Bears at a Disadvantage From Outset ; Receipts Less in Volume. CHICAGO. Feb. 16. Corn ranged somewhat some-what higher in price today, owing more or less to the fact that receipts here lacked volume. The market closed steady at l-c net advance, with March at Jl.T1 and May at 11.26;. Oats gained lo to l1oc and provisions JOc to 30c. I Bears in corn were at a disadvantage I ! from the outset. Stormy weather which j i would tend to interfere with the crop j movement formed a handicap on seiling ; operations. The newly reinstated bar against shipments to the east sei-med to be forgotten, as a price-making infmer.' e. and instead attention was focused on the comparative smallness of today's fresh supplies in Chicago, which at first were estimated at 200 cars, but later dwindle.5, to 101. Under such circumstances, no important im-portant setback took place and the market mar-ket held up well at not far from the best prices of the season, notwithstanding that as a whole primary receipts for the week totaled materially in excess of the corresponding cor-responding amount last year. Oats ascended to the hisrhest prices yet for the present crop. Short?, who had found offerings liaht. covered freely. Sharp upturns in hog quotations hoisted provisions. Holders showed considerable disposition to realize on the advance. Hog racking to date shows a big shortage. 1 RANGE OF THE LEADING FUTURES Open. High. Low. Close.
