Show SENATORS DISCUSSING WALSH-PITTMAN BILL Coal and Oil Land Leasing Measure Sure to Pass as California Clauses Are Eliminated. WASHINGTON, Jan. 4. Consideration Considera-tion of the Walsh-Pittman coal and oil land leasing bill was resumed today by the senate under an agreement to finally final-ly dispose of the measure Monday. Its passage was regarded as assured because be-cause of the agreement to eliminate provisions dealing with the California naval oil reserve district. Senator Borah today criticized the measure for alleged discrimination against Wyoming oil operators, and Senator Smoot announced that a Wyoming Wyo-ming delegation would arrive tomorrow to protest against it. Debate on the bill continued throughout through-out the day with scarcely a half dozen senators in their seats. |
