Show TREASURE BOX ORE SHOWS GOOD VALUES High Values Are Found in Sample Brought From Mine About Ten Miles TJp City Creek Canyon. Tf about a ton of ore brought to town by truck yesterday is a fair sample of the metal values to be found iu City Creek canyon, Salt Lake soon will have mines almost within the city limits. The ore, which was exhibited yesterday in trout of tho mining exchange, came from the property of the Treasure Box liming company, which is operating in City Creek canyon about teu mites from Salt Lake. Some of the ore tvas high in ?jnc values and some carried good values in load and silver. According to assay re-j re-j turns presented by the Treasure Box i management the zinc ore runs from i0 I to 60 per cent, with about ten ounces j silver, and the lead-silver U0 to SO per cent lead and about an ounce of silver j to each lead unit. Officers of the company com-pany were not entirely satisfied with the commercial value of the ores as indicated by assays and were taking nearly a ton of ore to the sampler to have a thorough test made. The company controls three claims. The first development consisted of a tunnel some 300 feet above the bottom of the canyon, and a drift. The tunnel tun-nel penetrated tho mountain to a distance dis-tance of seventy-five feet and then a drift was run "about twenty feet to crosscut the vein. The ore exhibited yesterday was taken from the drift. To cut the ore body at depth and to provide an outlet nearer the roadway a tuunel now is being be-ing run about 200 feet below the first tuunel and it is now in a distance of about ninety-five feet. It is expected that the new tunnel will cut the ore body in another 110 or 120 feet. The officers of the Treasure Box Mining Min-ing company are: S. C. Smith, president presi-dent and secretary-treasurer; .J. M. Taylor, vice president; Bruce Cramer, manager. The additional directors are ,T. C. Bingham of Ogden and Clarence Hoagland of Salt Lake. |
