The chief evidence submitted consisted of a copy of a letter written, according to Francis J. Heney, counsel for the commission, com-mission, by Hugh J. Robertson, general manager of the American vompanv and president of the Eastern OH & Rendering company, to K. J. Murphy, a local agent, which stated that "You want to train your guns on M. L. S. " Frederick W. Knglish, secretary of the D. B Martin company, a local packing firm, whose name was mentioned in the letter, denied all knowledge of the letter. He refused to admit that the "M. L. S." referred to in the communication was the M. L. Shoemaker company, incorporated. It was as a result of complaints by W. S. Allen of the Shoemaker company, the local lo-cal Independent firm, that the Philadelphia Philadel-phia Investigation was ordered. |
