Morris, rep-resenting rep-resenting organized labor of the city and slate, at which the war savings and thrift stamp plan of raising a 000,000,1)00 war loan by tin) government was explained. The labor men were deeply impressed with the plan and gave tho state director di-rector and the state chairman assurance assur-ance that organized labor both in Halt Lake and throughout Utah, would rally to tho support of tha campaign in every wav possible. It. was assured that every union organization or-ganization would ,be mado a selling agency for the war and thrift stamps and tho men at the meeting promised to go before eaeh and every organization organiza-tion and explain the plan in detail. I At a meeting of the Thousand Dollar club of Salt Lake, held yesterday, it was reported that there are now seventy-five members enrolled in the club, which means that $7.1,000 worth of war stamps have been purchased by the club to date. The membership committee is still nt work and it is expected that the membership total will be greatly swelled within tho next few days. State Director George T. Odell went to Krigham Oily yesterday morning and held an enthusiastic meeting with the Fioxelder county committee Mr. Odell reported last night that the committee has its plans well formulated and is ready to launch a vigorous campaign in that section of tho state. There will he a meeting at thrift headquartors in tho Commercial club Monday night next of the captains and volunteer workers who will start on the ''blue curd'' campaign to ho launched Tuesday morning. There arc about 1100 volunteer workers who will set out on a house-to-house canvass of the entiro city, placing the bluo cards which may be mailed to the postmaster with an order for any amount of stamps desired by the seiuier, the stamps to be delivered de-livered by the postmaster, who will collect col-lect for them upon delivery. |
