Show OGDEN MAKES RECORD FDR THERED CROSS Heavy Sales of Both Stamps and Seals Are Reported by Workers. Special to The Tribune. OUDEX, Jan. i. With total receipts amounting to approximately $1200, Ogden Og-den held her own with other cities throughout the west in the sale of Bed Cross Christmas stamps, according to Dr. Frank V. LeClere of Salt Lake, who was in this city today checking up on the campaign. Duo to the Red Cross membership drive, the campsiisu for the sale of Red Cross stamps was carried on for only two weeks, during December Decem-ber and no effort was made to carry on the sales during the membership campaign, the week immediately preceding preced-ing Christmas. According to Dr. LeClere, who is state secretary of the Utah Public Health association, as-sociation, the gross sale of Hed Cross seals in tho booths of this city exceeded exceed-ed that in Salt Lake City, the latter city leading in the amount received through the letter campaign. Letters ! were mailed out with 100 Christmas stamps with a request that the receiver return .f J for the seals. Fifteen thousand thou-sand of these letters were mailed out in Salt Lake as compared with 900 for Ogden. Twelve thousand dollars was the goal set for the campaign in this state and Dr. LeClere believes that the total sales will reach about $9000. Ten per cent of the total amount goes to tho national organization and the balance is expended within the state in the Red Cross fight against tuberculosis. As a result of Ogden 's showing in the recent re-cent campaign Dr. LeClere is of the opinion that this city will be given a branch of the state association. Mrs. David C. Eccles was chairman of the general committee iu charge of the Ogden Og-den campaign. |
