Show Coffee Futures. NEW YORK, Dec. 21. The market for , coffee futures was more active today, hut J orders seemed to le pretty well divided and the price movement was narrow. Prices opened at a decline of 1 to 2 points under scattered realizing attracted by the recent advance and there also seemed to be some trade selling during the day, particularly from New Orleans sources. As a larger business was reported in the cost and freight market late yesterday, this was attributed to hedging. Offer-ings Offer-ings were absorbed by, further Liverpool and local buving, however, and the market mar-ket closed net 1 point higher to 1 point lower. March fluctuated between 7.5'ic and 7.4Sc and September between 7.95c and 7.91c. December and January closed at 7.30c; March, 7.49c; May. 7.64c: July, 7.79c: September, 7.94c; October, S.Olc. Spot coffee was reported in better demand de-mand with prices firm at 70 for Rio 7s and 914c for Santos 4s. It is reported that sales were made in the cost and freight market late yesterday of Santos 3s at 9.60c; 3s and 4s at 0.50c. and 4s at P. 30c: also of Victoria 7s and Ss at 7.36c, steamer shipment, London credits. According to private advices the French government is buying iu Brazil at S.IjO for Santos 4s. f. o. b. The official cables showed, no change in Brazilian markets, except Santos futures, fu-tures, which were unchanged at 25 reis lower. Rio exchange was l-32d lower. |
