Show -MAKING A RECORD Nearly 1000 Tons of Ore Have Been Settled For Since First of Year. TO MEET TOMORROW Indications Are That There Will Be Few Changes in Board of Directors. The management of the Michigan-Utah Michigan-Utah Consolidated Mines company, op-crating op-crating in the Alta Cottonwoods district, dis-trict, yesterday pave out the following official statement: The Michigan-Utah Consolidated Mines company has just settled for lots 94 and 95, aggregating six cars. The oro runs better than $30 a ton. Since January 1, in spite of the inclemency of the weather and the tie-up on the railroad from Wa-s-atch to Midvale, it has settled for thirty cars of ore, or close to 1000 tons. This has been quite high grade, some of it running better than joO a ton. There is something I'ke 800 tons of ore at Tanner's Hat and 200 tons at 'Wasatch, ready for shipping. The railroad resumed operations regularly this week and it is expected that the shipments will be at the rate of 100 tons a day from now on. Tram Works Well. The company has been especially fortuna.te with its tramway thus far this winter. There has been no serious accident, in spite of the many snowslides and heavy storms since Christmas. It is the intention of the management to increase the above output very early in the spring. The companv is'accumulat-ing is'accumulat-ing a quantity of shipping ore in the Copper Prince tunnel that will add very materially to its assets when shipping is begun from that point. Tins has all been developed fince November. The shipments for January- were nearly treble what they were in January, 1916, and in every way the outlook for extensive exten-sive shipments of a good quality of ore from every part of the big mine is practically an assured fact for the year 101?. The efforts of the management have been directed toward making a real mine that could operate at a profit when prices for metals are low. Thev appear to be succeeding. Altogether there are about eighty-five men employed in and about the property. proper-ty. This force will be increased in the spring, particularly on company com-pany account. Will Meet Monday. The annual meeting of the stock- holders occurs on Monday, February Febru-ary 12, 1917, at 2 o'clock p.. m. at the office of the company in the Imolv block. At least four-fifths of the stockholders have sent the management their proxies, so there doesn 't seem to be any probability of any material change in the personnel per-sonnel of the new board of direc- tors. There will probably be two or three substituted for some directors di-rectors who have resigned; otherwise, other-wise, it is likely that there will be no change in the list of officers. In addition to ore production mentioned above, the D. C. Despain lease on the Big Cottonwood side has a large amount of ore ready for shipping. This will be hoisted from the Solitude tunnel to the Cleaves tunnel, on the Little Cottonwood, and sent down . the tramway in the near future. This ore is expected ex-pected to run high in silver. |
