After an illness of more than five years, Edwin Woolley Davis, 78 years of age, formerly a prominent railroad man of the city, died yesterday morning morn-ing at his home, 164 North Second West street. Born in Columbiana county, Ohio, Mr. Davis came wrest across the plains with his parents at an early age. His father was Nathan Davis, for many years bishop of the Seventeenth ward. His mother was Sarah Woolley Davis. He married Elizabeth Derrick in the endowment house in 1S59. She was the mother of twelve children, ten, of whom survive. They are Mrs. H. A. Smith, Mrs. E. M. R-eece, Jr., Mrs. A. W Gal-lacher, Gal-lacher, Mrs. E. S. Woodruff, Mrs. A. C. Rces, Mrs. Amer E. Hansen, and their sons, John F. and Mervin W all of Salt Lake; also Alfred W. Davis of Provo and Gilbert L. Davis of Silver City Mrs. Elnore Egbert Davis, Da-vis, whom he married in 1S78, also survives him. From this marriage the following six children are living: Joseph Jo-seph E., Howard A., Albert H., Frank C, Mrs. Elnore Despain and Delia Davis. Da-vis. In 18S6 Mr. Davis was called on a mission to the Hawaiian islands, where he spent three years. On his return he went into the employ of the Davis-Howe Davis-Howe company as pattern maker, in which capacity he labored until his illness. ill-ness. Funeral services will be held tomorrow tomor-row afternoon at 2 o 'clock in the Seventeenth Sev-enteenth ward chapel. Interment will take place in City cemetery. |
