Throueh the shrewdness of a Western Union nus-senRer nus-senRer boy, an attempted swindle of the First National bank of this cltv was frustrated Friday afternoon, and as a result re-sult a strnncer giving the name of C. D. Kinkade Is now being held In the county Jail. It seems lhat In some manner Kinkade had succeeded In obtaining a Western Union receiving blank, on which he tvped a message adrlressed to the First National Na-tional bank, calling upon that Institution to pay the hearer $100 and a draft for this amount would be covered by tho bank ot Red Bluff, Neb. The messenger boy engaged en-gaged by Kinkade to deliver the message mes-sage became suspicious and informed Manager Dan Muscowitz of the matter. A Utile U cer Kinkade. carrying a grip hurriedly entered the First National bank stating that tile train he expected to take was due to leave within a few minutes He was informed by the cashier that the message from the Red Bluff bank had been received and he was invited to step into the olfice of the president until the matter could be arranged. In the meantime mean-time an officer had been sent for and Deputy Sheriff Price appeared a few minutes min-utes later and placed Kinkade under arrest. ar-rest. The prisoner made no protest. |
