Show MILLS COOTIES I TO O ISSUE Member of Present Board of Education Says Former Superintendent Favored. Special to The Tribune. j OGdEN, Dec. 2. The question of bringing bring-ing John M. Mills back to Ogden as su- i perlntendent of the Ogden city school system sys-tem will continue to be an issue in the present campaign, according to H. H. Henderson, member of the board, by the very fact that Dr. Edward I. Rich and John Culley have announced themselves as candidates for election to the school body. Director Henderson makes the assertion as-sertion in a statement Issued today and as a result the campaign is expected to create cre-ate considerable additional Interest before the ballots are counted Wednesday night. In support of his contention that Dr. Rich and Mr. Cullev would favor the return re-turn of former Superintendent Mills should-they should-they be elected, Mr. Henderson refers to quotations by them during the comparatively compara-tively recent school uproar in this city. In the quotations the two candidates are alleged to have declared Mr. Mills to be one of the best educators in this or any other country and fully five years ahead of the school board.. Every member of the school board referred to ia seeking reelection re-election at the present time. Dr. Rich Is opposing Mr. Henderson in the Fourth ward and Mr. Culley is the opponent of Wade M. Johnson, Incumbent board member, mem-ber, in the Fifth ward. Two more candidates for places on the board were added to the list today when John J. McGregor, a contractor, was nominated by the Socialists of the First ward and C. E. Bennett, a retired fruitgrower, fruit-grower, was nominated by the same party In the Fifth ward. The Socialists of the Second ward have announced that they will support Dr. H. B. Forbes. This furnishes a total of four candidates In the First ward and three in the Second. |
