Show CARDIFF DECLARES 25-CBVTJI1VIDEND Will Use Tractors in Hauling Haul-ing Ore When Increased Shipments Begin. The Cardiff Mining & Milling company directors declared a dividend of 25 cents a share at the meeting yesterday. It is payable on June 1 to stockholders of record on May 20, at which time the books for the transfer of stock will close. This is the second dividend declared by the company. A very large tonnage of ore has been developed in the mine, which Is being put in shape to send out a much heavier tonnage as soon as the roadways permit. Three shifts of miners are employed on the property. The greater portion of the work at the mine at present Is being confined to straightening out the long tunnel and in laying heavier tram car rails. The hnnaii7a ore hdilv has 'been devel oped along its strike for a distance of more than 200 feet. From the bottom of the winze that has been sunk below the main tunnel level to the top of ihe raise is a distance of approximately 900 feet, all of which work has been done in ore. Tho width of the ore body varies from eight feet to more than 100 feet in places. No attempt has been made by the management to determine the amount of ore in sight. Engineers that have visited the property recently. however, claim that there is enough ore developed to continue shipping at the rate of 100 tons per day for a number of years to come. A ve'rv small tonnage is being shipped from the mine at present, due to the condition of the roadways up tlie Big Cottonwood canyon. A force of men is now employed on the roadways, howeven, and It is believed that by June 1 regular shipments can be made from the property. proper-ty. The Cardiff company will hereafter employ tractor engines in hauling the ore and dispense with horses and the ordinary ore wagons. It is believed that the broad-tired tractors will keep the roadways In good condition. |
