Toilay's programme at the L'niversitv of Utah exposition includes musical numbers by the Jordan hish school orchestra or-chestra and an illustrated lecture by Dr. P. C. Snow on "The Kelation of the. House Fly to Disease." These will bo held in the assembly room in tho museum mu-seum building tonigiit. The exposition may now bo regarded as complete. The final exhibits went into place yesterday, and the news that the exposition is open has spread and is bringing increasing numbers ot visitors to tho university during the afternoons and evenings. Tho university orchestra provided tho music vesteraay, rendering selections from Pagliacci. In the evening the normal nor-mal school provided tho entertainment, consisting of songs, dances and little plays. . The most striking exhibit to go into place yesterday, and possibly the most striking exhibit in tho exposition,' was that ot the department of Knglish. This consists of a series of posters designed to show the organization of the work of the big freshman courso in composition. composi-tion. The posters are the work of the artist, J. Leo Fairbanks, who was assisted as-sisted in painting them bv his artist brother, Avard, and his father. They attracted attention all day yesterday and during the evening. English has become possibly the widest known course in the university, this bv view of the fact that it is the. only course prescribed for all students, and because of the fact that it has, in recent years especially, striven hard to adapt itself to the needs, tho training and especially the interests of freshmen. fresh-men. The exhibit for the course presents a series of scones showing the development develop-ment of the freshman from his entrance in the university in the fall throughout his freshman year. |
