There is now in the treasury of the Bay Slate I I Mining company In tlie neighborhood ot I Sl'M'iio In cash; there is practically no indebtedness; in-debtedness; the conditions in the lower workings of the property were never better, bet-ter, and. according lo the minins men j ilia.t have recently Inspected tile properly, there Is every reason to believe that within a short, time the Bay State company com-pany will enter the lists of the regular shippers. For the purpose of continuing the lower low-er tunnel, a conlract has been let to drive it ahead fur' 1M0 feet. Recently the for-maiion for-maiion through which the miners havo been driving has been very hard. A decided de-cided change lias been encountered, however, how-ever, tlie ground being- much softer at present and showing more mineraliza tion. In the upper workings the ore body has been opened for a distance of seventy seven-ty feet, the ore occurring in a bedding plane that was dipping toward the lower tunnel. Tlie lower tunnel is now in about liU feet and it is believed that the ore shoot will be encountered at or near the 3011-foot point. Miners are now working in the upper workings of the property and shipments will he sent to the smelter as soon as the roadways permit. One sample taken from the ore broken ran 57.4 ounces in silver, r4.2 per cent in lead, and a second sec-ond sample returned 124.6 ounces In silver sil-ver and per cent In lead to the ton. There Is broken a carload of tins grade of ore, according to the management. There Is also a large tonnage of a much lower grade of oro that will ship at the present prices of .the metals. |
