Show HOLDS BAD TEETH AID TO DELINQUENCY State Board of Dental Examiners Wants State to Extend Its Authority. Neglect of the teeth is one of the causes of incorrigibility and moral degeneracy de-generacy in children and grown-ups as well, sets out the state board of dental examiners in itB biennial report to the governor, filed yesterday. The board asks for authority to supervise su-pervise all dental work done at the state prison, the state industrial school and the state mental hospital, and that it bo empowered to employ a competent dentist or dentists to treat the teeth of the inmates of these institutions. It also asks for moro authority to inquire into sanitary conditions obtaining obtain-ing in dental offices and to enforce sanitation where it is lacking. The report shows that thirty-seven men were granted certificates to practice prac-tice in Utah during the last two years. Sis applicants for certificates were refused re-fused because they failed to pass the board's examination. Up to the present pres-ent time the board has issued 41b certificates, cer-tificates, aud of this number 156 are missing, that is, the addresses of the holders are unknown; three of the holders hold-ers of certificates have retired from practice and four have died, leaving 253 dentists known to be in active practice iu Utah. |
