Show TRUCK BUSINESS I IS HEBE TO STAY The truck business in Salt Lake is just coming to its own. says Manager A. L. Taylor of the Salt Lake Automobile company, and interest in the truck is very much more noticeable than before. Very tow firms have realized just what the truck could do and how much more could be accomplished. Most arms have held back and let the other fellow do the experimenting, feeling sure all i the while that the truck would make good, but having just a little doubt. Iho firms that have given the truck a good trial have found its worth and are now buying more trucks until it is gotting quite common to see a firm with a fleet of machines. ' One of the latest full fleets of machines ma-chines has boon made very complete recently by the addition of' three more trucks. This fleet is owned by the Salt Lake Hardwnre company, which has just added two International harvesters har-vesters and one Willys utihtv truck, making six machines in operation by this concern. One of the most completely com-pletely equipped truck outfits has just been ordered by the Morrison-Merrill Lumber company. The machines ordered or-dered are Mack trucks and each one is to be equipped with three bodies. Theso trucks are bIbo to have the very latest recording devices so that an accurate ac-curate record of the performance of tie trucks can be kept at all times. Among the firms that have recently placed their first orders for trucks or received their first trucks are: The Mine & Smelter Supply compauv. the Palace laundrv, the Standard Furniture company, O. F. Buehner. contractor, the Mountain States Telephone company, com-pany, the Murphy Candv company. Howard Bolster, contracting. To all of these firms the Salt Lake Automobile company gives a free monthly inspection, inspec-tion, so that a complete record of the condition of the truck is obtained regularly. regu-larly. The company also maintains" a service truck, so th'at if any truck is laid up for any cause the service truck is at the disposal of the truck owner, thus preventing the delays in business and assuring regular service. The Salt Lake Automobile company also maintains a transportation department depart-ment that is in charge of experts on transportation work, who are equipped to figure truck operating costs and determine de-termine what can be expected of machines ma-chines under different conditions. It does not always pay to install trncka as conditions under which they may have to operate may not warrant their use. It is conditions like this that make the transportation department valuable to those that want to use it. |
