Show VILLA REPORTS MORE SUCCESSES EL PASO, Texas, Feb. 20. Further successes in the west coast country wero reported tonight in a telegram from General Villa, dated yesterday at Zapotlan, between Guadalajara, metropolis metrop-olis of the west coast, and Hanzanillo, a Pacific coast port, which is Villa's objective point. Villa stated that 13,000 of his troops had defeated in the mountains near Sayula a Carranza force which he estimated at 12,000 men. Villa 's - declared losses were 100 killed and 2o0 wounded, while it was stated by Villa that the Carranza troops had lost 1500 killed and a large number num-ber of prisoners. Villa said that he was following the enemy at the head of hi3 troops. The Central railway was cut today betweeu the Juarez-El Paso port and Chihuahua City. Carranza agents here said that a group of 300 men from Coa-huila Coa-huila state nad entered the Villa territory ter-ritory below this port with the intention inten-tion of harassing the enemy by cutting I railroad communication. Duval 'West, President 'Wilson's personal per-sonal representative in Mexico, and G-eorgo C. Carothers, state department agent to General Villa's faction, were delayed by the cutting of the railway. The damage done was soon repaired and the train proceeded to Chihuahua Citv. The third of what was said to be ten aeroplanes contracted for . passed through this port today destined for Villa s army. |
