Show W MEN KILLED ID m BMIDED Officers Attempt to Arrest Train Robber Suspects at Pleasant Hill, Mo. Bv International News Service. PLEASANT HILL, Mo., Feb. 20. Two men were killed and one wounded in a battle in the crowded Missouri Pacific Pa-cific depot this afternoon between two men suspected of having held up the Kansas City Southern depot at Richards last night, and the city marshal and a night watchman. The dead: Clarence Poindexter, night watchman. Unidentified man, who resisted arrest. ar-rest. The wounded: W. F. Williams, Hot Springs, Ark., who resisted arrest. The marshal had been warned the two suspected robbers were coming here and, accompanied by Poindexter, he attempted attempt-ed to search them in the railroad waiting wait-ing room. The men refused to submit to the search and both drew revolvers. The crowd in the waiting room disappeared disap-peared as if by magic and when the smoke cleared away Marshal Evans was the only man not stretched out on the floor. Williams says he does not know who the other man was and denies he had anything to do with the Kichards robbery. |
